5 eggs                 1 teaspoon salt
1 and 1/2 cups sugar   3 tablespoons lemon juice
3/4 cup shortening

Beat the yolks of eggs with one-half the sugar until light, cream shortening and add remaining sugar gradually, add salt and lemon juice and fold in well-beaten egg whites. Bake in a deep pan lined with flake pastry at 375 degrees. Remove at once to cake cooler to prevent soggy crust. This is a very rich pie and should not be given to children.
