INGREDIENTS

Christmas Cakes

2 cups brown sugar       1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2/3 cup shortening       1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2/3 cup milk             1/2 teaspoon cloves
3 eggs                   1   cup raisins
1 teaspoon salt          1/4 cup citron
3 teaspoons baking powder

1 cup nuts               flour to stiffen

RECIPE


Cream shortening, add one cup of sugar gradually. Beat eggs very light, add remaining sugar and combine mixtures. Sift two cups of flour with baking powder, salt and spices and add, alternating with milk. Add fruit and nuts dredged with flour and enough more flour to make a stiff drop batter. Drop by small teaspoonfuls on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375 degrees.
